Carmen Björnald is born in Germany from a Liberian father and a German mother; she then spends her early years in Goteborg, Sweden, where she achieves a degree in Design and Fabric Research. She arrives in Italy in the early '80s and soon gets a job as a model working on the catwalks for some of the most prestigious Designers, such as Giorgio Armani, Gianfranco Ferrè, Versace, Moschino, Fendi and many others. In the early '90s, she decides to dedicate her time on her family and children. After two years, she goes back to school to attend a course on jewellery mastered by Davide de Paoli, a contemporary sculptor who loves to mix precious metals with minor materials. From this new experience. In 2006, while travelling in a distant country which she deeply loves, she becomes aware of a global problem: waste disposal. On this occasion, she develops the idea of designing a line of accessories, using different waste materials, this is CeeBee's philosophy.
A fashion product can be original and of good quality, support families in low-income areas by creating work and have a low impact on the environment.
To create Ceebee's original pieces Fashion magazines are collected and selected in the outskirts of Medan, Indonesia by a women's cooperative employing both local women and those who have travelled inland from Tsunami affected regions. The images are inserted between two layers of non toxic plastic (also recyclable),creating a quilted effect.
All of the pieces are "one of a kind" - two the same do not exist and never will.
